The severe earthquakes of 2015 damaged up to 90% of buildings in many of Nepal's regions. One of them was a children's home in the Bhaktapur region, for which the Hands with Hands organization had taken care of. From one minute to the next, it was no longer available to the children and caregivers, as it was in danger of collapsing. They had to move immediately to a small stable, consequently forced to live in cramped, deplorable conditions. In early summer, the monsoon season announced itself with extreme rainfall, and it became impossible to stay in that stable as well.

An inventory by engineers showed that the main building could be saved, but with a construction time of about one year. Therefore, MTS was asked to build a temporary and safe quarter until the renovations were completed. With few resources and a small team, a monsoon roof made of bamboo was built within a week under which units of the DOMO tent system were built. Here the children could live and learn.

The children's home has now been refurbished and is back in operation. The children really enjoyed their time in the DOMOs.
