MTS has been closely associated with the Competence Center for the Cultural and Creative Industries since it was founded. As early as 2010, MTS was recognized as a creative pilot out of 32 creative companies in Germany. To mark the tenth anniversary of the initiative, the future of the creative industry was to become visible in a special location in Berlin. MTS was commissioned to design and build this special project. This is what the client asked:
"What is the Fiction Forum of the Cultural and Creative industries?"
With the Fiction Forum of the Cultural and Creative industries, the Competence Center is creating a temporary exhibition and dialogue space, offering the opportunity to experience the cultural and creative industries' trend-setting innovations. The Fiction Forum aims to make the narrative and innovative technologies of the cultural and creative industries tangible across all sectors, and to convey them to specific target groups. In the Fiction Forum, actors, products and methods of the cultural and creative industries are presented, and innovative approaches are discussed that look towards the development of socially relevant areas. These areas are related to the economic policy issues of the federal government such as rural areas, skilled workers and qualification, AI & digitalization, circular economy, life sciences, Next Middle Class, and mobility. The Fiction Forum will show the essential impact of innovations in the cultural and creative industries, and how the creative industries can play an important role in shaping the economy and society of the future.
It is about new forms of value creation, interdisciplinarity, expanded innovation spaces, and narrative technologies. The Fiction Forum creates spaces for a better understanding of the creative impact and is the facilitator and creator of a nexus between business, politics and cultural and creative industries.
“Bringing the Cultural and Creative Industries to Life” - WHY?
Economic and social challenges are becoming more complex. The major political, economic, ecological and social contexts are constantly in flux. Challenges are becoming more and more intricate and globalized: What does digitalization mean for our coexistence? How to deal with climate change and what will the working world of the future look like ...? In order to come up with new solutions for new challenges, a clear, cross-industry change of perspective is required.
In the past 10 years, the Federal Government's Culture and Creative Industries Initiative, together with the Competence Center, has discovered, strengthened, and networked actors and approaches that operate between the present and the future - shaping our society, economy and the environment. The actors in Germany's cultural and creative industries are equipped with a “what-if” competence. The spaces of possibility that they open up provide answers to the questions of the future in the present. These solutions have to gain greater visibility, and their story must be shared across sectors, to maximize the innovative strength of this industry in cooperation with politics, science, and business.
In the Fiction Forum, these Solutions are Experienced, Discussed and Further Developed
The Fiction Forum is a temporary place of experience where innovations in the cultural and creative industries are conveyed in a practical manner. The various approaches and ideas are thereby elicited and tested in order to experience the future scenarios from the various stakeholder and entrepreneur perspectives in a flexible, and needs-based manner.
The Present of the Future is There, New Narratives are Emerging.
The solutions that have already been developed in the cultural and creative industries today may sound like science fiction, but they are reality. If these innovations are further developed, linked with new partners, and manifested as a vision, scenarios of the future materialize. If the existing potential is encouraged today - in the present - the ideas and solutions - of the future - can become reality. Everything that can be thought and imagined for the future based on the current situation - can also exist. In the Fiction Forum, these stories are told and developed. Different perspectives from business, politics, science, and research are combined with the "what-if" competence and approaches of the cultural and creative industries. "
